UCD hosts inaugural Research Culture and Integrity Week

Thursday, 2 April, 2026

Members of the UCD Research Culture team with visiting speaker Maneeshi Joshi.

The inaugural UCD Research Culture and Integrity Week took place 23-27 March 2026. The programme of events celebrated the progress that has been made in developing a healthy research culture across UCD over the last five years.

A wide range of community-building events were held throughout the week, showcasing best practice in Research Culture and Integrity. Interactive sessions included a workshop on researcher wellbeing, early career researcher career clinics, a storytelling communications workshop, training opportunities for technical staff and research journey discussions. Networking opportunities during the week encouraged a more open, supportive and connected research community.

The research community across UCD worked with the Research Culture team to develop the diverse programme of events, with internal and external experts reflecting on positive examples of research conduct, collaboration, early career research support and engagement with broader stakeholders. These contributions made space for thoughtful conversations, shared learning, and meaningful reflection on how the research community can work together to uphold strong collegiality, interdisciplinarity, engagement and research integrity.

Maneesha Joshi from Yale University visited campus to present on how we can build resilient international research in turbulent times, and Dena Plemmons from University of California, Riverside spoke about Responsible conduct of research teaching and evidence-based methods. Lex Bouter, Professor Emeritus from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam discussed how fiction books dealing with research integrity can be a valuable supplement to normative guidelines on how research should be done.

Speaking at the UCD Research Culture and Integrity Week launch event early in the week, UCD Vice-President for Research, Innovation and Impact Prof Kate Robson Brown said, "It is a great pleasure to officially launch UCD Research Culture and Integrity Week 2026! The festival of activities highlights best practices in research culture and integrity at UCD, including mentorship, interdisciplinary research, and ReCLAIM projects.

“It is wonderful to see the wide range of knowledge-sharing and learning opportunities taking place, with programmed events for research students, postdocs, faculty, technical officers, research managers, research support and career services. I am delighted to share this celebration of what we have achieved in research culture, and find out more about what is to come.”
