Travel to the Middle East
At this time, all persons planning travel to or transit through this region must closely monitor the (opens in a new window)Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Travel Advice by country and (opens in a new window)Regional Consular Updates.
'Do Not Travel' and ‘Avoid Non-Essential Travel’ advisories are in place for a number of areas across the region.
Colleagues are reminded of the following requirements under UCD’s Travel Policy:
- Travel to a country / region subject to a DFA ‘Avoid Non-Essential Travel’ travel advisory, requires approval from your Head of School / Unit and your relevant UMT Member (College Principal / Vice President)
- Travel to a country / region subject to a DFA ‘Do Not Travel’ travel advisory also requires approval from your Head of School / Unit and from the UMT (through your relevant UMT member)
- All travel under the DFA advisories ‘Do Not Travel’ or ‘Avoid Non-Essential Travel’ must be risk assessed using the UCD High Risk Travel Risk Assessment Template
These requirements apply to all planned travel to and through this region including travel booked prior to these advisories coming into place.
Alternative travel routes to avoid the region should be identified where possible.
The University advises all persons to closely monitor and adhere to the DFA advice.
See further details on the travel safety and insurance requirements here.
Non-Irish Nationals
Non-Irish Nationals are advised to also review the government travel advisories of their home country.
