(opens in a new window)UCD Athletics Club athletes delivered an outstanding series of performances at the weekend’s National Senior Indoor Championships, claiming national titles and podium finishes across several events.
Akinola Retains National 60m Title
Leading the way was Bori Akinola, who successfully defended his national title in the men’s 60m, powering to victory in a time of 6.60 seconds. The UCD sprinter’s performance once again confirms his standing as Ireland’s fastest man and one of the country’s leading sprint athletes.

There was also a memorable result in the men’s 1500m, where UCD athletes produced a superb one-two finish.
Lughaidh Mallon, an Ad Astra Academy Elite Sport Scholar, claimed the national title in 3:43.45, narrowly ahead of his clubmate and former sport scholar Luke McCann, who finished second in 3:43.51 after a closely contested race.
Relay Success for UCD Women
UCD also celebrated success in the women’s 4 × 400m relay, where the team of Renee Crotty, Ellie Hartnett, Debbie Lawal, and Hannah Murray produced a strong performance to secure the national title.

The results highlight another strong championship outing for UCD Athletics, with athletes continuing to excel on the national stage and demonstrating the depth of talent within the club.
